Saline Breast Implants

Share This:

p>When it comes to augmentation surgery, saline breast implants are one of three options you have. The other two are silicone implants and a new alternative, soybean oil-filled.

Saline implants come in different shapes and sizes, with a silicone rubber shell that is either pre-filled with a certain amount of saline solution or is filled during the surgical procedure.
Although saline and silicone are both quite popular, many people feel that the silicone variety offer a more natural feel, as it mimics the feel of real breast tissue. Saline implants are also more likely to cause wrinkling and leak.

On the positive side, capsular contracture, or scar tissue formation, is less likely after breast augmentation surgery with saline breast implants, and a saline leak is less harmful to the body than a silicone leak.

Still, you can't ignore the health risks of saline breast implants, which can include asymmetry, loss of nipple sensation, ruptures, deflation, undesirable results, infections and other local complications.

It's also important to point out that saline implants do not last forever, and you will most likely have to have them removed at some point due to a rupture or other issue. Also, breast augmentation surgery with saline breast implants is not covered by health insurance, and with follow-up visits and operations the costs can really add up.

There are alternatives to implant surgery for those not willing to risk the health complications, pay the high costs or risk having undesirable results. Natural breast enlargement is becoming quite popular these days, with more scientific evidence mounting as to the effectiveness of herbal supplements for enhancing bust size. Although more tests need to be conducted, so far the results are promising.

Before you consider saline breast implants or any other surgical enhancement procedure, please be sure to consult with your physician. He or she will go over all of your options so you can make an informed decision.
